Ceramic wall mirror with green glaze (circa 1970s) by Mithé Espelt. A remarkable decorative wall mirror displaying two stylised, counter-facing peacocks in gold crackle with inlaid jade-coloured enamel in geometric shapes. Separating the birds is a whimsical inlay sun-motif mirror surrounded in gold crackle. The mirror edges are also framed in gold crackle glaze. There are other similarly accented highlights throughout which beautifully complement the vibrant green hue. This piece is in excellent vintage condition with respect to its age and usage. The felt backing is comfortably intact with original retailer stickers. A truly charming and stylish mirror for your home or work place - a sure conversation piece for guests. If requested, a video clip of this piece may be provided.

About the artist: Mithé Espelt is renowned for her production of ceramic mirrors of remarkable originality and often mistakenly confused with those of François Lembo. The Mithé Espelt workshop was in Lunel, France near Montpellier. The atelier mastered the technical challenges of using gold and enamel for their signature style mirrors and elegant boxes which were often encrusted with crystals and vibrant stones. Today, her daughter, Marion DeCrecy, continues the family tradition making contemporary versions of her parents' designs as well as new original motifs.
